In 1984 the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Titans men's soccer program started its inaugural campaign. They were shut out by Loras College from Iowa with a score of 8 - 0. They won six games and lost seven in their first season. On November 9, 1991, Oshkosh made its NCAA tournament debut. On an ice-covered pitch, they played through a miserable 20-degree forecast at Kolf Sports Center. Then the Titans traveled from the frozen tundra of Wisconsin to the heat of southern California, where they faced tournament favorite UC-San Diego. This dramatic seesaw battle went from Oshkosh behind twice, to a Titan lead, only to be tied four-to-four at the end of overtime. The Titans lost 5-4 in penalty kicks, and UC-San Diego went on to claim the national title. Coach Toby Bares said, "This game is one of the best games I have ever seen."

In addition, on November 6, 1993 in Wheaton, Illinois, the Titans defeated their archrival to capture their first NCAA regional crown. That day they went on to defeat Hope College and continued on their way to their first Final Four appearance. In 1996, Luther College from Iowa defeated the Titans. This defeat ended Oshkosh’s amazing record of 61 unbeaten matches at home, which stemmed all the way from 1989. That was, at the time, the longest streak in NCAA men's soccer in any division.

In 1994, Greg Henschel set the record of most goals scored in a single seasonwith 21. Henschel also set a record of 55 goals in his four years of participation in Titan soccer. John Loth set the most goals ever scored in one game, with four. The most wins in a Titan's season was in 1994, with an amazing 18-0-3 record. The Titans have been nationally ranked in 9 of the past 11 seasons, stemming from 1988 to the present. They have also had four NCAA tournament appearances in the last seven years. Their overall record against Wisconsin NCAA schools since 1988 is an impressive 69-6-2. They are coached by Toby Bares, who was a national Coach of the Year award winner in 1994. Coach Bares has many coaching credentials, including a USSF "A" license and a NCAA Advanced National diploma.
